April
Sunlit leaves, the first woodland kiss of the bluebells with an avian choir. Holly blue, orange tip and speckled wood seeking mates along the hedge.
Blackthorn thrumming with pollen drunk bees, carpets of anemones, celandines and violets and the birds still sang.
Linnets, warblers, wrens and firecrests. Pippits, blackcaps and a soaring lark. Buzzard, rook, raven and crow, joyous songs from all.
But the gentle deer stole my heart, her dainty steps across my path, to then stand and watch with her liquid eyes, calm and unhurried. A spring gift she freely gave.
